Why We Built This App

A note from the co-founder

Growing up, I was always a fairly independent learner… until I entered Hwa Chong Junior College. Suddenly, I was getting Ds and Es on my exams. I did not realise it then, but the problem that I faced was time management. These were the exact symptoms: I could understand the concepts on a surface level during class, but when I sat down to do my tutorials, I would get stuck on difficult questions, feel completely defeated, and call it a night much earlier than planned.

In educational psychology, there is a concept called productive struggle. Making mistakes and wrestling with a difficult problem is how the brain actually builds deep understanding. But when wrestling turns into helpless staring, it becomes cognitive overload. The learning stops, the burnout begins, and your momentum is completely destroyed.

Looking back, I realise that students don't just need more weekly tuition; they need a way to unblock themselves the moment productive struggle turns into a dead end. We all need a bit of guidance and a sense of progress to move forward in life, not just for exams. That is exactly why we built the 10 Year Series app. I genuinely believe this is the tool I needed to survive school, and we are so proud to share it with your family today.
